Raw Day 13: Cravings Come Calling

Breakfast: Smoothie – 3 frozen bananas, 1 c. water

Midmorning: ¼ c. almonds

Supper: 3 frozen bananas, 12 frozen strawberries, 1.5 c. water

Evening: 3 brownie balls (dates, walnuts, organic cacao powder); 1 glass of white wine

It was another sleep-in errand day so meals were quick and few! The frozen banana-strawberry combo was a tasty little treat, but I think I prefer the all-banana variety best. Since I had only eaten 3 bananas all day, I was a starving grump monster around 6 pm, but quickly reverted back to my normally chipper self once downing the gargantuan that was my supper smoothie.

Earlier, I had mentioned that I’m not a breakfast lover. Even more so than that, I am a lover of snacks. My favourite meals are entrée-free and heavy on the appetizers. Lately, I’ve been missing that as well as “munchie” snacks and have been having some pretty serious chocolate cravings over the past few days. So today I did something about it. I don’t know what they’re really called, but this 3 ingredient brownie ball was top-notch in my books. Soft, nutty, and easy… and all around winner. All it took was ¼ c. cacao powder, 1 c. of dates and ¾ c. of walnuts. I used the food processor to blast it all together and then used my hands to roll it into balls. As you could tell from my love for the frozen banana smoothie, I have a heavy preference for few ingredients and the utmost simplicity in preparation so this was a fantastic find in my books. It will forever remain a part of my cooking repertoire… so even if you’re not into raw food, I really recommend you try it.

Tell me what you think!
