A little bit about me…

My name is Nikki and I’m an average Joe.

I work in an office, drive a Chevy, and live in a small one-bedroom apartment. I like to sleep in on weekends and every once in a while I wear pajamas all day. I drink tea from a mug and eat soup with a spoon. I sleep with my eyes closed. Sometimes I go to the gym, sometimes I play sports, and sometimes I don’t do anything.

A little bit about Exit Sideways…

Exit Sideways is where I chronicle the journey of each challenge I take on. I do various challenges of all sorts, but they all have to lead to the betterment either of myself or others. Essentially, the challenges must do something good.

I began doing challenges just to see if I could persevere. I would choose things that I didn’t think I could do and realized soon that I could do nearly anything if I truly put my mind to it. I started this webpage to share my experiences so that others could see that every challenge in life is full of ups and downs and there is never a guarantee that a person will succeed. It’s normal to fail. But it’s not a reason to give up.

A little bit about Challenges…

It’s the obstacles, the hard stuff, the hiccups that make life interesting and that make you grow as a person and learn more about yourself and the world around you.

Sometimes life throws challenges at you all on its own – an unfortunate boss, a horrible job, a bad lover, a medical condition, physical limitations, monetary limitations, and a heck of a lot more – and overcoming those situations is really something. But sometimes you have to throw yourself into something just to see if you can. And you can. So when you challenge yourself to eat 3 apples a day for a year or run 15 miles every week or write daily letters for a year and you do it, you’re that much closer to realizing you really can do anything.

There are millions of ways to challenge yourself, but always challenge yourself to be better. We don’t need to make ourselves or the world worse than we and it are.

Now, if you have some suggestions you’d like to see me try, send them my way, or if you have something you’re taking on, I’d love to hear about it. Catch up with me on facebook, or twitter!

  1. Hi Nikki! I just wanted to pop by and say thank you for following my blog 🙂 it’s always nice to meet a fellow ‘challenger’ and I completely agree, what is life without a challenge or two. I love your most recent challenge and the reasons behind it. I also look forward to seeing what your next challenge will be xxx
